If you didn’t see true Grit when it came out last year, it may be challenging to understand why the world is all of a sudden so taken with 14-year-old Hailee Steinfeld, but count on me on this one: Go see the movie, because not only is it great, but she will blow you away. and if the Miu Miu fall 2011 ad campaign is any indication, she’ll be continuing to impress us all for the foreseeable future. I like these ads for a variety of reasons: Unlike the similarly young designs that are often used in fashion, Hailee looks her age in these pictures and it seems as though the Miu Miu team took great care to guarantee that they didn’t tart her up too much. The clothes, shoes and accessories are fantastic. Bruce Weber shot the images, and you can’t really go wrong with him. The ads don’t…

There was so much build up and anticipation ahead of the Oscar de la Renta fall 2013 collection. ever because the brand announced that Oscar would take ex-Dior designer John Galliano into his studio, the fashion world has been buzzing about this collection. would Galliano have a major hand in the design process, would the collection be that of a dual collaboration, would Galliano take the stage with Oscar at the end of the show? The show space on 42nd street was packed on Tuesday afternoon as the fashion world, including designers Diane von Furstenberg and Valentino Garavani, anxiously waited to see Oscar’s collection. From the opening look, there was a sense that Galliano’s presence was in the room, and though we may not have seen the man himself, we felt his hand in the clothes and styling. The first looks that came down the long runway showed suits that…

When Vlad and I got married, I didn’t want an engagement party, bridal shower or bachelorette party. We had our wedding, and it was stunning, but I’m someone who likes to celebrate others and doesn’t love being the center of attention. but when I found out I was pregnant, I was thrilled to have a baby shower. I wanted to celebrate our baby with my pals and family, and I looked forward to it. We first thought we’d have our shower in Florida because that’s where I was expected to be, but being in NYC, I had a venue in mind that I always loved, and I was pretty thrilled about having my shower in nyc at one of my favorite places. We had a brunch this past Saturday, October 1st, at the Gramercy Park hotel Terrace. The Terrace used to have a restaurant that I discovered when we first…

As you may have noticed, we’ve officially crossed over into the second half of July, which indicates merchants are getting excited to tempt us with visions of cooler temperatures by means of their newest autumn arrivals. This season, Neiman Marcus was the very first merchant we identified out of the entrance with a section dedicated strictly to browsing purse pre-orders for the new season, as well as it consists of some incredibly fun runway discovers that you may have identified during our protection of the season’s shows. Even if you’re not in the getting mood ideal now, pre-orders are still my preferred time to search a site’s inventory. They’re when you’ll see the super-limited bags that will vanish long before sale season, the store exclusives that other merchants will never receive, as well as all the normally odd as well as special things that still makes fashion fun. You can…

Kimora Lee Simmons was recently spotted reaching LAX with an Hermes Birkin, which seems like a natural choice for her. We just saw Kimora Lee traveling with a Christian Dior lady Dior Bag and her investment banker sweetheart Tim Leissner last month, mere DAYS before it was revealed (by her ex, Russell Simmons, no less) that the couple had secretly wed some time ago. Scandalizing! Kimora Lee is fairly infamous for her high-end taste in bags, boyfriends and pretty much everything else in life. It will come as a surprise to absolutely no one that she lays claim to several Hermes bags, and she makes an appearance with a glossy brown croc Birkin in our seasonally updated “Celebrities and their Birkin Bags: A Retrospective.” She seems a likely candidate for a future edition of “The numerous Bags of…”!

photos via Hermes We’ve all heard the phrase “good enough to eat” used to describe a whole range of visually delectable non-edibles, but it looks as though Hermes has taken the words to heart in celebration of its new Hermes Kelly Picnic Bag; the brand put together homages to the icnonic Kelly bag made out of all the foods you’d need for a proper outdoor meal. As you might have quessed, the new Kelly Picnic is made out of the familiar woven wicker of a traditional picnic basket, only topped with a barenia leather flap and Kelly closure for that special Hermes touch. You can see it and the rest of the food Kellys after the jump, but considering the scorching heat that new York City endured this weekend, the oranges above are the most enticing of the bunch to me.

You might have heard a whisper here and there about some sort of basketball tournament that’s starting this week. a lot of members of the PurseBlog team went to football schools, so while this may not be our time of year in a sporting sense, we believe in substituting handbags for literally anything in which we are not naturally interested. with that in mind, we’re pleased to announce PurseBlog March Madness! We’ve chosen 16 of the greatest handbag brands in the world at a variety of price levels, and we’d like you to help us figure out the best bag brand of 2014. You’ll have two days (work days – even handbag critics need a weekend) to vote on each round, and once we’ve tabulated the votes in each bracket matchup, we’ll step the winners on to the next round to face a new opponent and a new round of…

images through Moda Operandi Some days, talking about trends and design and the fashion industry just seems a little strenuous, particularly first thing in the morning. Today was starting to feel like one of those days, which calls for some completely gratuitous eye candy. Luckily, online trunk sale pioneer Moda Operandi is currently providing a generous selection of beautiful vintage Hermes bags, and even though the sale is only open to Moda members, we have all the pictures. The Hermes pieces range in price from $4,950 for a slightly worn leather Kelly bag to $79,900 for a rare, beautiful Himalayan crocodile Birkin, which has evidently already been snapped up by an enthusiastic collector. The selection of croc, alligator and ostrich is really outstanding and ranges from the expected neutrals to brights like beautiful vert anis green, and there are also a few nontraditional bags with a mixture of leather and…
